Going For The ‘No!’

Are you afraid of failure?  If you are, you may be feeling like the nice gentleman to our left here.  In this game, failure is a big part of what we do – every single day, it seems.

We really do live in a culture that frowns on failure, sometimes to the point where we can be paralyzed by it.  In the selling game, being afraid to fail is a sure ticket to disaster.

That's really one of the many reasons that I blog here.  AccountHUNTER exists not only to just seek out and discuss different sales techniques.  What I really want to achieve with this blog is to hammer home the importance of preparation BEFORE the selling process begins.  

But if you're afraid of failing, it doesn't matter how much data you have at your disposal before you pitch the client.  If you fear the failure, you'll find it more often than you blindly stumble onto success. Read the rest of this entry »

‘The Best Sales Advice I’ve Received’

I'm always on the lookout for good selling advice (and you should be too!), so when I came across this wonderful pice from the blog of Warren Greshes, I was pretty pleased.

gold.jpgOver 30 years of selling experience, and three pieces of advice that have stuck with him throughout his career:

1. If you throw enough $#@% against the wall, something's gotta stick.

2. If you sell enough dresses, you can burn down my office.

3. The way you break them in is the way they’re always going to be.

Those three simple sentences are pretty powerful when you think about them in the context of the daily efforts that you make in your career.  He also makes a pretty commonly used, but no less powerful statement in the piece as well.

"Great salespeople are worth their weight in gold.
